Sharing the Charism, by Sister Elaine Hollis, SSJ

Gathered together for this workshop are 24 Sisters of Saint Joseph representing 14 countries where there are SSJs: Brazil, India, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Mexico, USA, Italy, Argentina, France, Madagascar, Lebanon, Bolivia, Canada, and Congo. Most are younger members of their 11 different Congregations or have recently made final vows. One Sister from Pakistan could not get a visa to come.

In addition to the participants in the course there is the coordinator of the course -- Griselda from Mexico (who used to represent the SSJs at the UN), the presenter -- Maria Del Pilar from Mexico (her co-presenter from the Ivory Coast could not get a visa!), two assessors from Avila University (Ken Parsons and Carol Coburn), and the three translators (Sisters Simone Saugus, Mary McGlone and myself).

We are being well taken care of by the staff here at the Centre which includes a Sister from Maine, one from India, and two from Brazil, as well as an Associate of the Congregation of Saint Joseph.

You can see from the lists above that we are encountering a cultural diversity in the midst of sharing the charism that unites us.
